Tax Breaks Here I Come
Purchasing a hybrid or setting up a charging system at your shop or home can provide you with significant tax breaks both on the federal and state level. On the federal level, you can receive up to a $7,500 tax credit for the purchase of a hybrid vehicle and a 30% tax credit on a residential charging station. Oregon, specifically, provides a couple benefits. Some hybrids are exempt from emissions testing with the proper documentation and you can receive a tax credit of up to 25% on a residential charging station. Want a money saving tip? Portland General Electric suggests that hybrid owners should switch to a time-of-use rate plan so that they can take advantage of lower off-peak night rates.
